Beliefs

The topic of today's discussion is this illustrious thread.

The threads basic gist is that there's a bill which may or may not be passed that basically, legalizes bullying. Or more to the point, bullying the gay community. It's an interesting read and honestly, I'm worried about the way things are being run in the States.

Anyway, the point on which I'll ponder on is, as always, the wonderful replies by the Escapist community.

There are 3 distinct groups replying in this thread:-
  1. The gay community(of course)
  2. The semi religious( on the slight defensive to hardcore defending)
  3. The bashers( and as usual, that's effectively about the entire composition of all the replies in the thread)
The first 2 groups are there, with purpose to reply, defend or speak the topic at hand. Hopefully do it effectively.

But what I'm concerned about, is that 3rd group. The bashers. And what I've found is that, they're always in a huge number when it comes to 'Gay rights etc etc.' threads. They're either there to ridicule religious folk OR there to denounce everything religious. And I don't get it. Why only 'gay threads'?

Here's a simple test, make a thread about Capitalism. And include the point of the wonderful interest system that is employed by almost every bank in the world. I can say now, easily, that no one will quote from a religious text. Why did I choose Interest? Well, that's because it's universally forbidden in every religious text there is. And yet, I don't see people going up in arms with Bibles in hand and funky beards.

But start a gay thread, and within the first 10 replies, someone will quote from the Bible and thus, the bashing of that person will begin for believing in God. For making it public, that they believe in higher power. Even if you're not that religious, you will be ridiculed for even daring to believe. It's radically stupid and speaks volume about the mind set of most of the users occupying the site.

It scares me that you can't cite your beliefs without being called a fraud by the community at large. This exposes a very wide and large hole in the 'Community' of the Escapist.

There's the argument that threads like these should be in the Religion and Politics Forum, made for the express purpose to separate religion from the general proceedings of the Escapist. BUT, sometimes, you need the opinion from the people at large. And, over there at the Escapist, it never ends nicely. Ever.

Hypocrisy

This link.

I'll be talking about that link. So read it up.

Basic gist is that a cop tazes a  fleeing suspect. The suspect, unfortunately, falls and obtains a head injury. And now, she's brain dead.

Curiously, Escapist being a fantastic place of diverse opinions, it would have nothing more than users bash one user for having a different opinion. Even if, in my opinion too, it's wrong. It's a sad state of affairs.

Instead of politely correcting or analysing the users arguments, people are mocking the lad for being narrow minded and somewhat oblivious to the matter at hand.

Was it too wrong for me to include this line in the Forum Games Guide?

It's really eye opening when you see someone swearing terribly. But that's what the Off Topic is for. We, the people of Forum Games, are all Gentlemen and Ladies.
I think not!

The coincidence that be~

So, yesterday 9th February 2012 was my birthday. And I have to say, that on principle, I'm not too fond of my birthday. And apparently life agrees with me. I had quite a crappy day at school.

However, when I come home and login to my Escapist account, surprise surprise! I've been gifted the Publisher Club Membership! This was a very pleasant surprise indeed. Of course, later I find out that it was pure coincidence that my birthday happened to be on that day~ But all in all, this gift brightened up my day.

Moral of the story: Keep friends close. >.> <.< What?  :3

Odd. I wasn't high on acid.

So I'm thinking about rewriting the first part to make it seem like a typical five-man band
 With
 Nymphadora as the hero
 Tasia as the lancer
 Antonella as the smart guy
 Astrid as the big guy
 And Aneirin as the chick'
But then have Tal go 'NOPE! DERP DEE DO! You, mister elfeminate, are the hero."
And Aneirins like "NO FUCKING SHIT?" /sincerity
Tal: "Nope, I was lying." /sarcasm
And then Jaromir's like "Bitch, you're the hero.
Female character, EVEN THE LESBIANS:"HOLY SHIT YOU'RE THAT UNDEAD TSAR DUDE. YOU'RE HOT AND POLITICAL!!!!"
And Jaromir is like: "Plus I'm bisexual." and they have explosive necrophiliac orgasms
And Aneirin's like: "Whatevar. Emo time."

That moment.

That moment. When Steam teases you with a very juicy deal. Yeah, that moment.

At the time of this writing, The Elder Scrolls series; from Morrowind to Skyrim is up for grabs for only 50 dollars. Only.

And yet... I can't buy it.  >.> Circumstances leave me strapped for cash, ALAS! We'll meet one day, 'very specific Steam deal'. One day sooooon. Hopefully, the summer.

@_@ One daaaay. I'll have you!  O3O

The man is trying to put me down!

Or make me small. Certainly, try to make a man I never was, and I want to be!

It's a conspiracy I tell you! Trying to keep me down. Poppycock! I shall never bow down to something as trivial as this!

What I'm trying to say is... HOLY HELL MY AVATAR IS ALREADY SMALL WHY IS IT SO SMALL THIS TIME?!

Or I would be saying this if I had witnessed it. But I didn't. And my avatar is back to its paltry 75x75 pixel size. So it's all good. Or at least that's the assumption.

Bah. Back to life as we/me/you/us/I/they/them know it.

Evidence of skill: Appendix A

I made this blog, about 5 days ago. I'm writing this post now, about 120 hours after this blog was inceptioned into the blog space. Interesting no?

Be on the look out for more stuff which is as nonsensical as the next.  :D
